Philosophers, psychologists, and teachers speak and write about a reflection very much. But all this generally occurs on an idealistic platform since still the problem of materialistic ontology of a reflection has not even been rised. And this is with the fact that in domestic philosophy and psychology the materialistic understanding of thinking is quite deeply developed. Having taken materialistic interpretation of mentality and thinking as a basis, being guided by data of neurophysiology, the author offers modern materialistic ontology of a reflection. The reflexive requirement which is subjectively felt as desire to realize own cogitative activity acts as a source of a reflection. This requirement is expressed by violation of dynamic balance of an organism and emergence of the increased excitement in neural systems of a brain. Elimination of the arisen excitement is reached by means of instant cross-correlation as a result of which new stable functional relation which undergoes some kind of testing by means of dvukhtablovy «mechanism» of thinking is formed: through the first and second board the thinking «is cleared» of subjectivity and psychologism of empirio-sensualistic knowledge and of possible antinomy of rationalistic gnoseology. As a result new stable functional relation is perceived by the subject as understanding of own thought process, i.e. a reflection.

Key words: reflection; ontology; materialism; thinking.
