Point 2 in Article 13 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation says: «There is no ideology that can be considered as state or obligatory». Such definition is the expression of the thought of many contemporary thinkers who consider that the XXIst century is the period of pluralism which accepts ideological diversity. However, is it so in reality? Modern social consciousness is in crisis directly connected with the crisis in social life. It is expressed in the extreme contradiction of the contemporary social consciousness for which the strongest radicalism and eclecticism are characterized. After the USSR collapse there appeared the ideological vacuum which impetuously began to be filled with many whimsical movements which couldn’t exist in the previous conditions. The epoch of deideologization was proclaimed by many people, but one can affirm justly that the beginning of the XXIst century is the period of the limited ideology connected with the above described situation. The appearance of many new ideological learnings didn’t result in pluralism, and nowadays there is a situation that the influence of supporters of certain movements is much stronger than the influence of the adherents of the other learnings. As it is seen from the above mentioned information, the problem of crisis social consciousness is extremely difficult, and there should be some methodology for its understanding. The author does not try to give the final decision of questions, asked in the article, providing just framework of further investigation. In the article the author offers framework conception of his future research, tries to understand crisis social consciousness and answer the question if philosophy can be the methodology of understanding crisis social consciousness.

Keywords: philosophy, methodology, pluralism, eclecticism, ideology, social consciousness, crisis.
